North Koreas Impending Nuclear Strike, Darby McMahon pd#9

North Korea warned it would make a "nuclear strike" as an offensive response to joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises that began Monday. This information was published by the National Defense Commission of North Korea. "As the joint military exercises to be staged by the enemies are regarded as the most undesguised nuclear war drills aimed to infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK, its military counteraction will be more preemptive and offensive nuclear strike to cope with them," the statement read. These actions are expected but tensions this year are higher than normal after actions from the UN.

This article written by Dana Ford, CNN, shows the situations underlying North Koreas decision to threaten a nuclear strike. But the fact that they have threatened this before, and these kinds of threats are expected from North Korea makes me a little more comforatable. It is still scary to think of more nuclear warfare and possibly another world war. This attack, if carried out could be as disasterous as Pearl Harbor, in the distruction and formation of a world war. This article does a good job of providing evidence and quotes from North Korean leaders to strengthen the claims made. North Korea could very well be planning a nuclear attack, and I just hope their claims are merely empty threats.

  1. I find it very scary that such threats would be made. It's almost hard to remember that there are such dangers that can easily reach us.

  3. I agree. They have threatened us before on many occasions and no action has been taken. I think that they are just trying to appear intimidating after the recent UN decisions.
