Cookie Thieves by Matthew Homsher 9th

Summary: A man and his sister stole $200 from a 12-year-old girl selling Girl Scout cookies. The theft, committed by Nicholas Delbrugge, age 20, and his sister Ashley Winters, age 25, took place in front of a Walmart in central Florida. The siblings were caught after both their grandfather and Winters’ husband identified them. Lacy Lee, the Girl Scout, told police that Winters “kept asking questions about the cookies,” while her brother “kept staring at the cash box.” Delbrugge ripped the box from the girl’s arms and ran with his sister to a getaway car. The pair was later locked up at the Volusia county jail. Delbrugge has a history of violence and drug possession and is being held on a $150,000 bond, while his sister is held on a $50,000 bond.

Synopsis: Times must really be tough if people are stealing two hundred bucks from little girls. The cookies are simply not expensive enough to justify that. Seriously though, all joking aside, this is just a bad situation in general and it’s a good thing that nothing worse happened. Considering Delbrugge’s record, the young girl is very lucky that he only took her money. It’s also very lucky that the grandfather and husband were able to recognize the pair, or that money would have just disappeared.
