Okay, so I found a really good, extremely empowering article this week. It's about a girl with Cerebral Palsy, which is a neurological problem that affects motor skills. Cerys is a seven year-old girl that was told she would never even speak, much less stand and even more so walk. Now she is doing all that plus horseback riding thanks to a wonderful community that raised 60 pounds (they live in England) for this girl's surgery in St. Louis. Needless to say the surgery worked all thanks to the wonderful generosity and support of family and friends.
These kind of stories always make me happy and there is no way to deny any wonderful part in this wonderful story. I am so happy and thankful for Cerys and her family. What is incredible is how these people loved this girl so much they were willing to send her to another country to get an operation that ultimately improved the quality of her life. In American history, we see all the time how people rally behind a cause such as the temperance movement, women's rights, or abolitionism during the Antebellum Age. Unlike then, though, this is a smaller community rallying behind one girl for a cause that is undisputedly good no matter how you look at it. But in both cases the causes spread a message of hope and love that everyone should remember as we go through our lives.

Matthew Homsher 9th- It's great that the community was able to support her like that. I wish we were seeing similar communities in America.
