Zoe Norton-Rodriguez-9th-Ghostly ships filled with dead bodies arrive on Japan's shores

In the past two months, ships filled with decomposed dead bodies have washed up in Japan. There have been at least 20 bodies found. One idea is that its a fishing boat gone astray but a more likely explanation is that the ships are from North Korea and contain people attempting to escape. There is limited information so there are different theories about who is on the ships and why.

A more traditional means of escape is to go through China, however they are policing the borders more heavily resulting in different ways of escape. Throughout China, Mongolia, Japan, South Korea and most of Southwest Asia there is an secret system of safe houses for people escaping North Korea. This is similar to the Underground Railroad because oppressed people are escaping through the help of a secret system. In China, the borders are getting more heavily policed and this is similar to the fugitive slave laws. Chinese police and officials are in connection with North Korea and will get paid to return those who try to escape from North Korea.

  1. I'm very concerned as to how ships can just wash up to shore with dead bodies in it... I wonder what exactly happened to those people. -Sophie Kurzius (8)

If this was the work of North Korea, it is a new low for them, a creepy low. It's crazy how another country can repeat the events that happened in the separated U.S.

  3. This is so mysterious in such an unfortunate way. If it was people seeking refuge from North Korea, I cannot imagine what they must have gone through their last days at sea.
