Hyperloop Transportation- Nicole Chatham 6th period

This week I read a very exciting article about the Hyperloop Transportation System and how it has the potential to change our ways of transportation as we know it! The idea of the Hyperloop was created by Elon Musk (chief executive of Tesla Motors and SpaceX) and proposes the building of a super fast, solar powered, city to city, elevated transit system. How fast would this transportation system be? According to Musk's vision, the Hyperloop would be able to transport cars and passengers  from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 30 minutes, an extraordinary feat!
Along with excitement about what this system holds for the future of transportation, comes the exciting news that Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is going to start building a Hyperloop track in Quay Valley, California, in 2016.  This Hyperloop is going to run alongside Interstate 5 and is going to be assembled by 200 professionals from Yahoo, Airbus and NASA. Along with the team of 200 professional engineers, are a group of 25 UCLA students who will be working on the design and costs of the Hyperloop, as well as a test track already being built in Texas. This system is expected to be running between the years of 2019 and 2025.

Analysis- Wow this is some very thrilling news! I am going to be looking forward to the creation of this system as it will provide much faster and efficient means of public transportation and change history! Being able to be transported quickly and safely will affect many aspects of one's life such as jobs and family life and will open up a variety of opportunities unheard of before! I can relate this article back in US history to the Gadsden Purchase! The Gadsden Purchase was a agreement between the US and Mexico in years of 1853-1854, where the US purchased 29,670 miles of land from Mexico, of what is now current day Arizona and New Mexico. This purchase was so important because it provided the land for a southern transcontinental railroad and also attempted to resolve conflicts with Mexico after the Mexican-American War. Like the Hyperloop system, the Gadsden Purchase led to a more developed system of transportation and opened up many new opportunities to those with access to it! I will be very curious to hear about more Hyperloop news in the near future!
