Hiker Found in California- Brooks Norton- 4th Period

On August 21, 62 year old hiker, Miyuki Harwood, failed to return from a solo hike in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. She was found alive and conscious on the morning of the 29th, although she suffered broken bones. The effort to find her was made more difficult by the forest fires in the area.

Analysis- There has always been a danger of getting lost while on solo hikes, and while that danger has been decreasing because of better tracking technology, they don't do us much good if we can't use them because of natural disasters. Human influence has led to drought and forest fires in parts of the US and this is a major problem.
