Telltale Games Closes Doors and Lays off 225 Workers

Telltale Games, a video game company that pioneered the Chapter and Choose Your Own Adventure format in video games shut its doors on September 21st and laid of over 90% of its staff, the last few remaining to finish projects for other parties, and then the business would be gone. Telltale was started in 2005 and its first big game "The Walking Dead: Season 1" was a MASSIVE success and many big faces in YouTube gaming played it and loved it! They soon adopted this format and produces many more Choose Your Own Adventure games like "The Wolf Among Us" and "Tales From The Borderlands". However, after making games for nearly 14 YEARS, their format got stale, and, despite recent releases receiving very positive feedback, it didn't boost their sales, and reflected on their company's status.
Thankfully, many big gaming companies like Epic Games, Twitch, and Ubisoft are bringing these 225 workers under their wings and allowing them to continue working in the gaming industry and put their amazing talents to work. The reason this happened was a company dispute that followed to a company-ending lawsuit and bad working conditions and workers constantly being overworked to meet deadlines for releases, and resulted in there being no sequel to "The Wolf Among Us" and no conclusion to "The Walking Dead" story. RIP Telltale Games...

  1. I am deeply saddened by Telltale shutting most of its doors, and I remember playing The Walking Dead Season 1 when I was in either fifth or sixth grade and I loved it. I'm sad we're not going to see Clementine's story come to an end. I liked how you explained why they shut down.
