Mia Murphy- Amber Guyger, Dallas Police Officer killed unarmed man

Just a few weeks ago amber Guyger had opened the door to her neighbors apartment thinking that it was hers, when it was really Botham Shem Jean. That night on September 6,  Amber Guyger had fired her weapon twice at Both and he was dead. She did get fired from the Dallas Police Department and the chief, U. Renee Hall had cited her arrest. There are two ways/sides you could take or follow here... One is that you believe this murder was an act of racism that came with lost of rage, or that she had just come off of a very long shift at work and goes "home" to find an unknown man in her living room.  If Amber wasn't a police officer who had just come off a shift her first instinct may have not been to shoot, but isn't that what they're fist instincts are? In no way am I saying or agreeing to if this is okay, but what if we all looked at it from a different perspective.

  1. I really think that the officer meant no harm, she was just frightened and acting out of self defense when seeing the man in her “room”. If I was the investigator in charge of this case I really wouldn’t know what to do because it is tricky to call a side. I hope though that this type of thing never happens to anyone ever again. - Joziah German

  2. Though I think this was an accident, I have heard that there were many holes in Officer Guyger’s story, leading me to also believe that it could have been an intentional murder. It’s hard to know, really, and I can see why it’s so hard for many to decide whether or not she’s guilty.

  3. She may be a police officer but that doesn't make her actions excusable. Though we don't know the exact details, the "shoot first and think later" mindset is twisted and needs to be stopped.

  4. I had never really thought into the idea that maybe she had just got off of a long shift but that doesn't excuse her actions. There is a history of police officers shooting at innocent black people, so maybe there needs to be better training for police officers so their first response won't be to shoot?

  5. It is good that she got fired, she deserved it. No ones first course of action should be shooting someone or using your firearm. This needs to be changed within the police department and more cops should spread awareness of the correct use of firearms.
