Police shot and killed an unarmed black man in his own backyard. By: Grayson Decker
Stephon Clark was in his own backyard when he heard the words "Put your hands up" and was hit multiple times for the only reason that he wasn't given a chance to surrender to the police. They believed he had a gun, but in the footage, you cannot see anything. Apparently, he had his phone in his hands and they began to open fire. The police were there after reports of someone in the neighborhood had been breaking car windows. They found Stephon and chased him into his backyard, with what I described earlier following.
This can be related to the Boston massacre, where the people protested and were shot. This is the same thing, except they only believed he was protesting. Innocent people were killed at the Boston Massacre, and an innocent man was killed here too.

  1. This makes me angry police don’t give people a chance. Also just because he was black they think he was dangerous that gives nobody the reason to shoot someone if they did nothing wrong.

  2. I think that the amount of innocent, minority citizens getting shot by privlaged police is absurd. Our government needs to control the rules the officers have when it comes to using firearms because these fatal shootings are happening too often.

  3. I think that this article tells us, no matter how stupid the reason is, as long as the blue men have a reason it gives them permission to take a life that is precious. - Kadar Price
