Sexual Assault Victims Response After Trump Tweet- Betty Dubois

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/23/us/why-i-didnt-report-assault-stories.html

Christine Blasey, age 51 accused Brett Kavanaugh of pining her to the bed and groping her without her consent when they were teenagers. People have had many reasons of why it has taken them so long to speak out, wether its their job on the line, or its something thats hard to talk about to others. The "#Whyididntreport" movement has started on twitter with many victims of sexual assault sharing their story and explaining why its taken so long for them to be able to share it. It is painful for many people to come out with these traumatizing stories, I believe that the president shouldn't be judging the brave victims for coming out with their stories.

  1. I agree with Betty. Why is the president judging all these victims? After all that they have been through, the "president" just thinks its a joke and that it shouldnt be addressed and taken care of

  2. I agree with what you said as well, i feel as if its a little suspicious that the president would be defending the person accused instead of the victim.

  3. Chloe Meinershagen - How plain awful that when someone finally gets the courage to speak out about abuse, they get hate for waiting to say it. What kind of message is that to our people if the President himself disregards women's stories of their past? It's a real issue in our culture, and it's no hope if the highest regarded man in our society is against solving it, and contributes to it's existence.

  4. Why is it that when people speak out about sexual assault after it's been a long time, they automatically assume they're lying (or something along those lines)? Sexual assault and harassment is a very traumatizing experience for people, and can often lead them to not being able to trust anyone.
