Bill Cosby faces sentencing over sex assault - Paige Aleman

The sentencing hearing for comedian Bill Cosby began with the debate over whether to label him a sexually violent predator. In April, Bill Cosby was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault against ex-basketball player Andrea Constand. Psychologist Kristen Dudley testified that Cosby's behavior was that of a mental illness and he would likely reoffend, however Cosby's defense team said that given his age and that he is legally blind, the designation would be too sever a punishment and the classification process was unconstitutional. Judge Steven O'Neill has stated that the law is constitutional, but still hasn't ruled whether Cosby will receive the predator designation which would but him on the sex offender registry and require him to undergo counseling for life.

This article was created today, so it was fresh in the mind of the writer with a generally unbiased opinion on the matter. This event is a high-profile legacy of the #metoo movement which led to many people around the world to speak up and share their stories of sexual harassment and sexual assault. This article was written for the people to be updated on current events and I also think that it was made for the victims of sexual harassment and assault. There have been decades of sexual accusations from more than 60 women across the US against Bill Cosby, and now he may finally get punishment for his actions. Because no matter how old you are, if you're blind, if it's due to a mental illness, sexual assault/harassment is still sexual assault/harassment.

  1. I think people tend to forget that even super famous stars can do bad things too. Even though the Cosby show was one of my all time favorite shows, I can't tolerate when people try to defend him for his actions. He is well deserved of his sentence.

  2. I also see how this could be a case were a person with power could get away with this, but in this case it didn't. I also do agree that anyone who commits a crime whether they may have some disabilities or health issues they should still pay for what thy did or be helped in some way.

  3. It's strange to think about this- Bill Cosby was kind of the first big star who got accused of sexual assault and since then, there have been many more. It really flushes out the smoke screen covering up Hollywood. Most people are under the impression that Hollywood is a fun place of movie magic and the glamorous life of a star, but that's far from the truth. Sexual assault and molestation are a part of Hollywood culture that's kept under the wraps, sometimes even endorsed or performed by the "big people" in Hollywood. Just because you're a star doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, though.

  4. So weird how bill Cosby would do something like this. Everyone knows him as the sweet guy that was really funny from an old tv show but know all he is know for is how he sexually assaulted someone
