It's no secret to most of the world that climate change is real and causing major effects in our current environment. Recent changes in the continent of Antarctica are worrying scientists for our future. Last January, scientists found that a strip of the West Antarctic Ice sheet two times the size of California was melting. The cause of this is directly linked to an El Nino Effect, something that rarely bothers the Arctic areas. This mixed with unusually rainfall in the desert of Antarctica, may cause dramatic and rapid changes in our sea level within the next 100 years.
An increase in global warming can be seen within the years of the Industrial Revolution, when our society became primarily reliant on the use of nonrenewable energy and fossil fuels. The El Nino Effect has been seen all throughout history starting weakly in the 50s and strengthening its effect in recent years.
