Xi Jinping goes over two year term as Chinese President?- Melanie Escalante

Usually in China, the President and Vice President aren’t allowed to serve more than two terms. However, the communist party is pushing to make an amendment (which hasn’t been done since 2004) that would need the approval of the National People's Congress. It would allow President Xi Jinping to interminably stay as head of state.
Some say that if he were to just stay in power through his position as general secretary of the communist party (no limitations), there wouldn’t be a need for constitutional change. Deng Xiaoping did something similar when he held onto power until death, despite the fact that he no longer had his official titles.
Xi Jinping has already been in power for ten years. I think that making his term longer without limitations could bring problems. I don’t know what makes this guy so special that people have proposed changing the amendment for him, or if he just has the power to do what he wants. I hope their system stays fair for the people because that’s all that really matters. I understand that he doesn’t want to lose his grip on the country, but I don’t think it’s necessary to change everything the people of China have known. I hope he doesn’t push too hard and rupture the peace with civilians/other offices. We’ll see what the NPC decides in March.
