Henry Haas- The Response

President Trump’s response to the growing pressure on him and congress regarding the NRA and gun control was rather unsurprisingly not very in depth. He stated a few things about his close ties with the NRA and sometimes it felt like he was going to get to a point but he always seemed to fall a bit flat in regards to this issue. It seems he doesn’t really want to upset either party, however, by sitting back and not calling anything to action he may end up in a worse situation. Pressure is continuing to build on the president regarding stricter background checks and flat out ban of guns, however many on the right are stating that a decision will not be made now. That begs the question, if not now, when?

As far as I’m concerned, guns are an issue that needs to be unpolarized. No matter what the problem is these days it always seems like we can only lean towards extremes, and no one seems to want to give up ground so they can meet in the middle. As a small personal note, I think the second amendment needs a bit of help, and I don’t just want to flat out keep it as is or immediately ban everything. No matter my views on it or anyone else’s or the presidents, all we need to do to get working on this issue is talk. Talk to others about it that have different opinions and you may just get your mind chamged. Communication has always been key, but it’s especially necessary in this country today. Hopefully we can figure that out soon enough.

  1. You are right, there needs to be compromises made to fix this, but neither side seems willing to bend. Congress really needs to work on their cooperative skills because if things like this keep happening, the extreme gets to play out instead of meeting in the middle.

  2. I agree, there needs to be a change in executive action for there ever to be a change in how decisions are made, specifically the ones that have polarizing opinions tied to them.

  3. I just think that there needs to be a much stricter gun regulation here. The easy access to guns just gives all these people the opportunity to harm others.

  4. You are correct in saying that the two ideas should not be so extreme in their ideas. Both sides will need to make concessions if they want to solve this issue.
