Church of England's Plastic Ban

The Church of England has requested that members stop using plastics for Lent in order to reduce the amount of garbage and waste in London. The Church recognizes that plastics have become a major environmental problem, polluting rivers, oceans, killing wildlife, and overfilling landfills. Overall, the UK has been making an effort in reducing waste and trash, from the ban on plastic microbeads and the ban of plastic straws in restaurants.
I think this progress towards a cleaner city and urban area is definitely important. Oceanic currents gather waste into huge trash islands, damaging ocean life and polluting waters. This relates to Theodore Roosevelts conservationist policymaking during his presidency and the establishment of national parks to preserve the land.
