Montrel Williams, 48, was shot and killed at his home while sleeping. His daughter, Sammaria Cunegin, 14, is suspected of murdering Williams. She has no criminal record and is enrolled as a freshman at Northwest High School. Her attorney, Matt Kraemer(Assistant Douglas County Public Defender), asked for Cunegin to be released to stay with a cousin while awaiting her juvenile court hearing. Judge Douglas Johnson denied Kraemer's request and decided that she stay at the Douglas County Youth Center for now. Williams(Cunegin's dad), had been convicted of two felonies, and at the time of his death was wanted on a 2017 warrant that involved domestic violence. Cunegin told her friends that she was tired of being abused.
