Emma Gonzalez, a student at Douglas High School, spoke an impassioned speech at a rally. She calls on the politicians funded by the NRA and who constantly push against gun control to actually care about student lives. Her friends and peers were killed because a student could legally obtain a firearm.
I know people love to fall back second amendment rights as a way to protect their guns, and sure, if you love, that's okay, I can't judge you. However, when you place your material objects over the lives of actual human beings, you're not a good person.
You can probably connect this to a lot of things in APUSH -the top 1% of people not wanting to take care of the poor, who were their workers in the Gilded Age, etc. A person's or group of people's lives shouldn't be held lower than material goods.
