Marco Rubio and CNN’s Parkland Townhall
Republican Senator, Marco Rubio, met up with the teenagers that survived the Parkland, Florida, shooting to talk about gun violence and how to prevent this from happening again. He continued to defend his stance on gun violence but at the same time changed the conversation surrounding the issue. Rubio said that he's totally behind changing the age limit from 18 to 21 when it comes to purchasing a rifle or shotgun. He's also open to changing the size of gun magazines and he disagrees with Trump's suggestion on arming guns. Rubio proposed to have a law to where only a family member can allow you to buy a gun underage or prevent you from buying a gun at all.
Rubio was grilled about whether he would/does receive money from the NRA to which he replied that they are 'people that buy into his agenda.' Besides all of this, it was a surprise that he even showed up in the first place considering that there would be heated discussion on gun violence and the right to bear arms. I'm glad that he at least didn't side with Trump on arming teachers because not only could it get into the hands of a student or it could allow terrible teachers to harm students who are giving them a hard time because even though it's for protection, in the wrong hands, it could leave everyone in danger. Plus, I just think it's sort of a dumb idea.
