This new memo comes after President Trump announced unexpectedly on Twitter that he was banning all transgender people from U.S. military service. Transgender troops have sued the administration over the policy. A Pentagon spokesperson told the Washington Blade late Friday that the military “will still comply with federal court rulings and continue to assess and retain transgender service members.”
