Joaquin Sanchez-Linda Brown, woman at center of Brown v. Board case, dies

The woman who was the center of the Brown V. the Board of Education, Linda Brown, just passed away. At the time of the case Linda was nine and was trying to enroll into Summer Elementary school, an all white school located near her home. When the school blocked her enrollment her father sued the Topeka Board of Education. With four similar cases combined it was taken to supreme court.

The Brown V. Education case was the cause of the end of segregation in schools. Linda Brown will always be an important figure in the civil rights movement. The case of Brown V. Education is the related to an earlier court case, Plessy V. Ferguson, which happened in the 1890's. But the ruling in Brown V. Education was the opposite of the ruling of Plessy V. Ferguson.
