Shayne Grant: Tillerson fails to thank Trump after firing

      Last Tuesday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson thanked the American people among others for his time as secretary. Tillerson was recently fired by President Trump with current CIA Director Mike Pompeo taking over the job. During his farewell speech Tillerson failed to address or thank President Trump as is customary in these types of addresses. His firing, in the form of an abrupt tweet, comes after months of tension between the president and the secretary. According to Trump, he respects Tillerson and got along with him well and believes that the former secretary "will be much happier now."

     While the firing did seem to come out of no where it is completely constitutional and justified even if you don't agree with the decision. It is unclear whether Tillerson chose to not thank Trump or if it was just an accident. Assuming that the State Secretary intentionally did not thank President Trump, Tillerson should have steeped up to the plate and thanked the President, no matter how poorly Trump has treated him.
