Self-Driving Uber Car Kills Pedestrian in Arizona, Where Robots Roam

These past few years, more and more companeis are testing out and creating self-driving cars. On Sunday night, a self-driving car belonging to Uber hit a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona.

“We’ve imagined an event like this as a huge inflection point for the technology and the companies advocating for it,” he said. “They’re going to have to do a lot to prove that the technology is safe.”

I agree with the excerpt from the article (above). Self-driving cars sound really cool, but also really scary. I definitely don't see myself ever getting into a car that is driving itslef. There is always a chance for tehcnology to mess up. It's never 100% reliable. Even though human drivers may not be 100% reliable either, I just feel like its better to have my life in the hands of a human being rather than in a piece of metal.

In conclusion, I'm still a little skeptical about self driving cars (especially after reading an article about how one ended a life). I hope to learn more about these cars, and there definitely needs to be a lot more tests before they are allowed out on the roads.

  1. I agree, I don't know if I would want to be on the same streets as a controlled automobile because there's no telling what it will do.
