The U.S. commerce department has decided to reinstate a question of citizenship to the 2020 census.
The censes takes place every ten years, and is designed to count the number of people in the country, not the number of citizens. The count is used to redraw congressional districts, SO it will affect the makeup of congress. This has some people upset and conflicted. The commerce department stated that the question is being added to enforce the voting rights act. Most people agree that the question is unnecessary, and will give innacurate resultus as many people will be afraid to fill out the form.

  1. I do believe the form is unnecessary and in no way solves any issues. By issuing this into the form it doesn't solve any problems but instead multiplies them-this will make citizens fearful of their participation giving Congress an illegitimate amount of people in the US.

  2. Even if they add that question there wont be accurate responses, people will say no out of fear that the gov is going to come for them, whats even the point
