3/29/18- Ashton Benn

At her sisters soccer game in Bend, Oregon, a 6 year old girl, Namoi, went innocently digging and found a neat rock which she kept it for almost a year before finding out that it was actually a very rare fossil. It was actually a fossil of ammonite, which is a sea creature that lived around the time of the dinosaurs, 65 million years ago. Fossil of that price usually go for between 40 or $50,000, but because so little is known about Naomi's fossil its hard to place the price, so she gets to keep her Moana shaped shell which is invaluable for a girl that age.

I think this is a heartwarming story of a beginning for a young girl. From here, Naomi's innocent curiosity will only grow and blossom into a full-fledged career. Not only that, but history is being discovered all the time and it is our jobs as people of the future to gather as much information as we can to learn about the past. Discoveries like these should not be ignored instead they should be celebrated and publicized to encourage others to get involved.

  1. This is an amazing opportunity for this girl. I think that she could sell her fossil when she's old enough and use the money for a car and college. However, its her parents decision and they could also use the money for a house and a car. Either way the folio is a blessing in disguise.

  2. I think it's an amazing coincidence that this little girl was able to find a fossil while innocently playing. I wonder what she'll do with the fossil but if I were her, I'd sell it for college tuition.
