Nicholas Godfrey Period 8: Why we should care about Bob Levinson

Summary: You may not know who Bob Levinson is and neither did I before reading this article. Bob Levinson is a former FBI Agent and was working in Iran until he was taken in by Iranian officials. He has been in their custody for 9 years and we know absolutely nothing about his condition. The USA made a recent trade with Iran in which we received some innocent Americans who were being held in exchange for many Iranian criminals from the US Prisons. Bob Levinson was not one of these Americans. Officials say he might be one of the longest held hostages in history.

Analysis: How is this man not our number one priority?!? He has been held imprisoned for NINE YEARS for no reason and yet we get all of these other ones back, but not him? And we still are giving so much more to them than we are receiving. This should be our first demand whenever we negotiate with Iran next. Better yet, start a negotiation right now primarily concerning Bob Levinson! This man is a citizen just like the rest and deserves our help in getting him back to America. This reminded me of when the Native Americans killed an English colonist thinking he was from Norway and they demanded they gave them the killers or they would attack. If these early colonists could risk their stability for justice for one man's death, then how come one of the largest superpowers in the world can't demand for the return of one man??

  1. Hostage situations are so touchy but I definitely agree this man should be our number one priority.

  2. Matthew Homsher 9th- It would have been possible with the Iran deal, but it was forgotten. That's the sad truth of the matter.
