Zoe Norton-Rodriguez---9---350 infants may have been exposed to tuberculosis at California hospital

350 infants may have been exposed to tuberculosis at California hospital

An employee with tuberculosis who worked in the newborn nursery may have exposed 350 babies, over 350 mothers and over 300 employees to this dangerous illness. This disease won't spread as easily among adults but the risk for newborns exposed is very high. The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center will be screening mothers and children so they can catch it before its too late.

This is similar to how the Europeans unknowingly brought over diseases to America. The Native Americans were unused to their kind of disease so like the babies they were at a much higher risk than any other European settler.

  1. Bernadette NEgrete- This is idiotic! why didn't the employee take a day off if they were feeling ill? they work in a hospital . They should know the risk of spreading infection.

  2. It's so sad to think that those people thought that they were bringing life into the world at a safe place and it turns out it was very dangerous! It's important that the people that are supposed to be taking care of us are also taking care of themselves by knowing these things.
