Brooks Norton 4th Period

Historical men in the US have been the only people legally allowed to hold combat positions, but recently that has changed. As women are now able to hold combat positions the question of who should be drafted comes up. Previously as men were the only people fighting, men were the only people drafted but recently several judges declared that only requiring men to enlist for the draft would be unconstitutional, and it is possible that this case will go to the Supreme Court.
All throughout US history, despite being banned from fighting women have found a way to help with war efforts. In both the American Revolution and the Civil War women would dress as men to fight. Women have also been nurses and organized boycotts. It seems very reasonable that women would finally be on even footing with men in the military since they've always been a part of it.

  1. It is nice to see the acceptance of women in ANY occupation. Judges recognizing the Constitution makes me feel slightly more confident about some the authorities over our country. Women have come a long way, I can only hope we can continue and gain respect and acceptance from all.
