In this article a gun club owner is saying that closing loopholes in gun regulation and increasing mental health care would help prevent gun violence and stop bad people from doing the wrong things. Mental health is only one of the issues with gun laws.
Though increasing mental health care might help, supplying every person who is deemed mentally well with a gun wouldn't. Regardless of how mentally someone is people still get angry and when they have a gun with them or close by they will use it. Everyone is already on edge, scared or what might happen next and they are arming themselves. The second amendment was made to protect frontiersmen.
That makes no sense? How would giving everyone access to a gun prevent gun violence? Children of mentally sane people who own guns accidently shoot themselves all the time.

Mentally ill people are not the only people to commit gun violence crimes, so this would not help to completely stop gun violence. -Claudia Anthony
