Graffiti are spray-painted at two mosques in Southern California - Ari Robinson, Period 3

Graffiti are spray-painted at two mosques in Southern California

Summary: In Hawthorne California, two mosques were spray painted with Christian slogans. Police have labeled it as a hate crime. One mosque said "Jesus" and the other said "Jesus is the way." There was an item resembling a hand grenade near one of the mosques, and bomb squad came, but it was only a replica. These events follow the Friday intentional fire at a mosque in Palm Springs.

Analysis: Freedom of religion, anyone? These events are an atrocious rebellion of our country's very founding principles. This is not a Christian country. Therefore, shouldn't Muslims be able to practice their faith? Shouldn't any religion be able to practice their faith? Hate crimes against Muslims are becoming more and more frequent. Prejudice against Muslims is becoming very widespread. It seems as though soon, it could be an even larger issue than racism against African Americans.

  1. Though I'm glad they didn't resort to violence, this behavior isn't acceptable, and more security should be set around that mosque, in case actual violence occurs.

  2. I agree with you. freedom of religion didn't seem to be what was on their minds.
