Cameron Eisenberg-hacking the atmosphere

Story-Global warming is a huge problem in today's society, with are factories and cars emitting tons of CO2 everyday. If the  atmosphere goes any further than  2 degree Celsius from the norm, we could be in a catastrophic situation. So, how do we solve this? One answer would be to stop being so dependent on fossil fuels. The other answer is to suck the CO2 out of the air. There is a new technology that can take the CO2 out of the air and store it to be converted to fibers for building or energy. This is how it works. There is a material called plastic resin that, when dry, is attractive to CO2. The CO2 will stick to the material until it gets wet. The tech is already used on a minor scale in greenhouses, but what about in a massive scale? This sounds great, but there are a few problems. One, it's very expensive. Two, where do you put the CO2? Scientists suggest the bottom of the ocean. Some people are worried we would be fiddling with Pandora's box. Also, doing this would strengthen our dependence on fossil fuels, a non-renewable source.
Anylasis- this sounds good, but what, as said earlier, we would be tampering with nature. While getting off of fossil fuels sounds better, it's easier said than done. It's a big business. This seems to be a step to  rebuilding the ecosystem, like the movements that have been going on since Teddy Rosevelts time.

  4. New technology to help the ozone layer we've been depleting at warp speed since the Industrial Revolution? Yay! However, it's quite concerning to hear scientists would put the CO2 at the bottom of the ocean; our oceans are already dying because of human carelessness, and we are in desperate need of healthy oceanic ecosystems just as much as we need the ozone layer. I hope scientists will realize this and find a better place to store/convert/release the CO2!

  5. I think the world should start using this new tech more than it already does, but at a gradual pace. Mass production of this product right off the bat could totally ruin the situation, putting the entire world in a poorer stance than it started with. We need to be cautious since we may indeed be fiddling with Pandora's box.
