Zander Pryor-Midterm Election

In what has already proven to be a decisive partisan race, things have been worsened a mere day before by Donald Trump. Donald Trump recently tied himself inextricably to the upcoming election, declaring himself to not be on the ballot literally but that he is in every other sense at recent rally. While only Trump fully understands what's coming out of his own mouth, I believe it to be a motivation tactic. While politics were quite partisan before he came along, with him in office, any attempt at unity is almost impossible. Trump seems to know this and is using it to his advantage, hoping the us vs. them mentality will motivate voters.
This article leaves me anxious. This entire election process has kept me on the balls of my feet, ready for just about anything but hearing this statement actually caused me a bit of fear. This election reminds me of the elections of 1836 and 1840. Just like Andrew Jackson, we have a decisive, populist who's fanbase has been previously untapped by prior elections. And just like those elections, I get the sense that something big is coming and it's not likely to be good. Just back like then, we have two sides as taut as rubber bands and it can't be long before they snap. I fear there isn't a peaceful way to reconcile the country. In the Jackson Era, we had the Trail of Tears and the Civil War. We may not experience anything close to that in devastation but that's not entirely reassuring to me.

  1. I agree with what you're saying. The state of our country is a little unnerving to say the least
