In California, last Thursday morning, there were two utility companies that were reported to have been the cause of a big state fire. Both companies are being examined by state investigators. Reports in Southern California have announced that a circuit relayed out of the substation about 2 minutes before the blaze broke out. Reports also claimed that the 2 fires appears to be in the same origin, but it’s not clear how close they actually are to each other. In Northern California reports about fierce winds still destroying homes. Over 300,000 people state wide have been forced out of their home. Majority of these people (170,000) have evacuated to LA. About 100 still missing and hopefully somewhere safe. The satewide number of loses is 31. One of the other many concerns is cleanup and recovering from this traumatic experience. This article helped inform the public on the details of this intense fire and let us know how concerning it is. We need to stay informed in order to keep future incidents from occurring.
I’m not exactly sure why, but for some reason this article made me think of the The Dust Bowl. This was a continuation of dust storms in the 1930’s, that used to tear homes and fields of crops apart during the Great Depression. People and livestock were killed due to these storms and pictures I’ve seen of this fire reminded me of pictures of the aftermath from the dust storms.
These fires are devastating and its honestly sad that some people still don't think that they are a direct cause of climate change.
ReplyDeletethis was very well written and i agree with what you said
ReplyDeleteThe wildfires are definitely out of control, and i think we as people should watch for what we are doing. One throw of a cigarette out of the window can lead to destroying thousands of lives.
