Mekinna Knight- Vapes

The article I brushed upon and will be discussing today is one that contains an issue not only affecting adults, but more likely kids all over the US and continental world. This is the problem that you may have heard of called vaping. This article explains how vaping has increased by nearly 80% in high schoolers and 50% in middle schoolers, pushing the US Food and Drug Administration to conceal the flavors being sold in attempt to make these e-cigarettes less appealing to kids. The man leading this attempt, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, says he does not want to take away everything appealing in hopes that these vapes could aid adults who struggle with smoking resulting in keeping the flavors mint, menthol, and tabacco flavors. He explains how these devices, meant to help, can not come at the cost of the people leading our future. He has also proposed expelling all youth-appealing ads and marketing for these types of products. All in all, Gottlieb is determined to save kids from assumption of vapes, and seems very passionate and willing to do anything to stop it.

This can be very closely tied to this even that happened in 1939. As many worrying heath studies began to pop up about cigarettes and the effect they had on the human body, the company Nixon agreed to sign a legislation banning cigarette ads on tv and radio.

  1. Vaping, Juuls, and so much more needs to just go away because 1st of all; its not healthy, and 2nd; its just mentally hurting these kids who think its "okay".

  2. I hate that kids have turned something that was meant to help adults into a terrible epidemic. This can definitely effect their (teenagers) mental health in the long run and I would hate to see that happen. I hope they do everything they can to lower the amount of kids that are vaping.

  3. I'm really interested to see what kind of "disease" these vapes contain and how they will end up killing people. Just like cigars, people thought they were totally fine until they were getting diagnosed with cancer. It's so sad that even the JUUL company is recalling products everywhere because they know of how addicting their products are, and how they are so bad for people. - Joziah German
