Snowstorms cancel over 700 Flights - Faith Wangermann
In an article published by the New York Times on November 25, Sandra E. Garcia reports on the numerous cancellations in Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas due to blizzard-like conditions. Over 600 flights have been canceled in Chicago O'Hare alone, causing a Thanksgiving travel nightmare for many families. The University of Kansas in Lawrence has canceled classes for Monday. While these areas are used to snow, it's the first of the season, so there has been an extended effort to prevent excessive disruptions. This event is reminiscent of the first winter faced by Pilgrims in Massachusetts, with snow preventing effective farming and travel. The difference is that now we have advanced technology like heating and cars and roads, so survival isn't really in question, just whether one can get home.
