On Monday, November 19 the FDA announced that they found an E Coli outbreak in romaine lettuce tracing back to growing regions in central and Northern California. They stated that it is safe to eat romaine lettuce harvested outside of the central coast growing regions of northern and central California. The FDAs solution to this recent outbreak is to label the region where company’s romaine lettuce was grown and label the harvest date. They want consumers not to eat or use lettuce that doesn’t have either of these labels on it.
Articles like this are important because it helps to keep people conscious about what they are consuming. Without articles like this one less people would know about outbreaks like this one and there would be more people getting sick and possibly dying.
