Analysis
This article, by BBC News, was posted today and has been updated up until four hours ago. This article was short, but full of information on this event with sections about how it occurred, and what the public's reaction was. After reading this article I feel that gun control, or even our safety as citizens is honestly taken as a joke. A victim was an armed security guard that was working to keep us safe. This man was just doing his job, and even hoped to become a police officer some day in the future. Instead, he was killed by the people he aspired to become a part of. "Just waiting on the police to get there. I guess when the police got there, they probably thought he was one of the bad guys, cause he had his gun on the guy and they shot him," stated the public. This could also be connected to the many cases of police brutality the nation has faced in the past years. Many believe that at the scene, the main reason that police shot this man is because he happened to be both armed and African-American. I feel that there should be better ways to handle these crime scene situations than to open fire violently before more lives of innocent civilians are taken. Safety should be our top priority in this nation, when will we finally take action?
Just because something terrible happens doesn't mean that the country's citizens' safety is taken as a joke. I know you didn't directly state that, but there is a strong implication.
