According to the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue center, after being rescued from an abandoned farm, and emu and donkey have "fallen in love"! They enjoy sleeping together, and the rescue is looking for people who are willing to adopt a donkey with the emu. They had been living on a farm with dogs and cats for many years, and over time had grown extremely close. It is suspected that they were kept together over the years. When the rescue center tried to separate the two, the emu was caught pacing back and forth in its cage, and the donkey had started crying. It is also reported that Jack, the donkey, had attacked several other donkeys in his area. Including one that had gotten close to the emu! Although inter species relationships are quite rare, people had discovered that living in domesticated places can cause them.
This story is absolutely adorable. I think its good for people to see inter species relationships because of how rare they are. It is so interesting to see how creatures other than humans are able to interact with one another. Although when it comes to animals, these kinds of meetings lead to violence, and usually death of at least one of the animals. I want to see more animals naturally getting along with each other rather than being kept in a pen together.
