Summary: after lots of research, there is a new biologically developed Cotton seed that is edible! Its possible this seed (tasting rather like hummus) will become a large cash crop again, but as a food product that can be made into a butter, a flour, or just eaten raw or toasted, salted, ect. basically, its a nut, but you know.. a seed. and its edible. cotton.

My thoughts: lets talk about something that isnt depressing, food; i dont think it will be very yummy but its neat for sure! its High protein and a good, healthy thing to eat. being kind of really into cooking, i think its very cool in concept, espeically if used as a flour. since it supposedly tastes a lot like hummus, i can image the amount of baked goods that can finally have that flavour profile as a solid ingredient- since squishy little chickpeas arent the best baking ingredient.

connection?: Well, honestly, what i think about is that cotton used to be a huge crop that was grown on plantations. cotton was huge, its still pretty huge, but if it were to be added to the produce market, cotton production would very likely jump up a lot. though i very highly doubt we will see a repeat of our past mistakes- i mean slavery- it may instead upon up a ton more job slots for Cotton growing. though, that makes it very possible for such a big industry to get bigger only to treat its new and former workers like trash, even with worker unions.
