Wildfires are raging in California, and the death toll for the camp fire has risen to 42, making it the deadliest in the state's history. The camp fire was only twenty five percent contained, burning well over 177 square miles of land and close to seven thousand buildings have been destroyed including many celebrity homes. Over 200 people are currently unaccounted for in the area of the fire.
This is not the first major wildfire in California. In October of 1991, the Oakland firestorm began to spread where, eventually, it destroyed 1543 acres of land and losses were estimated to be near 1.5 billion dollars. We need to do more to prevent these wildfires and educate people on what to do if another fire of this scale breaks out.

This story is so sad and I hope that there are things that can be learned from this to prevent the fires in the future from spreading this rapidly.
