Today, November 12, 2018, Frank Miles published an article about
a British couple who shared a neo-Nazi based outlook on the world recently
named their son after Adolf Hitler. Last Monday they were convicted by a jury
at Birmingham Crown Court in central England of membership in an outlawed
far-right group, according a numerous amount of reports. 22-year-old Adam
Thomas and 38-year-old Claudia Patatas were found guilty of being members of
National Action.
As the
trial took place, the jury was shown photos of Thomas holding his baby son while
sporting the white robes of the Ku Klux Klan.
The jurors were also shown WhatsApp messages exchanged between
them praising the Nazis’ murder of Jews.
The government banned National Action in 2016 after Jo Cox was
murdered by a far-right extremist. Ten people now have been convicted of
membership in the group.
These reports quite clearly relate to history in many ways. Although
this article does not directly relate to American current events, the
historical context does. It is important to note that these racist, ludicrous organizations
do exists and they can even be found in the places that we feel most safe. For example,
there have been accounts of an Army veteran who was at the heart of National
Action, which set its sights on recruitment for the banned group in the armed
forces.

ReplyDeleteThey're really unfit parents. I feel like this could warrant them losing custody of their child; no kid deserves parents like that.
