LGBTQ Candidates and What They Face- Maggie Turkyilmaz

In the modern age, LGBTQ+ politicians have been rising in numbers- but are still being attacked and threatened by political opposition and conservative citizens. As more and more of them run for office, others get louder and louder about how much they hate them. When LGBTQ+ people aim for power, they are shot down instantly, but more and more often, they are rising up again and running.

This is very, very important, due to the still rampant prejudice and violence against people all across the globe based just on their identities, and the vast, vast examples of discrimination in the past.. Having more LGBTQ+ candidates elected would be revolutionary and influential and could help our conditions in the U.S. while helping to make history.

  1. I feel that people should be able to do something about things that are worth doing something about, no matter their identity or their background.

  2. It’s good that there has been a rise in LGBTQ+ candidates in politics even in they face discrimination. They will help influence people in the future and hopefully help to open people’s minds about this issue.

  3. Unfortunately, while there will always be people clamoring against the LGBTQ+ community, it is reassuring and refreshing to see that these candidates are getting their voices out there.
