"The New College Blacklist" An interpretation of The New York Times article by Adelaide Willert

"Who's Been Charged in the College Admissions Cheating Schedule? Here's the Full List"

Rebecca Halleck, a writer for The New York Times has provided a full list of those being legally charged for cheating in the college admissions process. To cheat, parents would pay for test scores either by directly paying the corporation or university, paying the supervisor of the exam to either help their child or turn a blind eye, or even paying someone else to take the test in place of their child.

The truth is, we haven't really seen anything like this in history before because we were never truly in this age of mass wealth. The entire college admissions scandal and preferential acceptance based on wealth is completely unfair to everyone, not only because the financial advantage, but also because of the standards that colleges are now raising. Exam scores are being expected to be higher, and tuition fees have been raised by copious amounts at many universities. It makes me wonder if those who cheated in the college admissions scandal realise the consequences that affect people other than them and their famous counterparts.

  1. I agree, this is something that I would never see coming. It is very unfair for people who actually worked hard to go to college.

  2. Colleges are ridiculously expensive nowadays, and this is not helping the situation. Especially since hardworking individuals who give their all to scholarship programs and college applications could be denied in favor of someone rich.
