OCD is a very misunderstood disorder and often joked about and twisted from what people you have this disorder actually experience. About 2.2 million adults in the US experience this chronic disorder and about half have said it has impaired their lives. Dr. Yip has answered all the questions about OCD.  She said Obsessive Compulsive Disorder has two parts, obsissions and compulsions. The difference between the two is obsessions are intrusive, unwanted thoughts that count i is to replay in your head unwillingly. Compulsions are the actions people experience in order to temporarily deal with these thoughts. To classify one with OCD, they may experience anxiety, depression, and fear, but there’s also physical symptoms that include insomnia, lack of concentration, fatigue, and restlessness. Common obsessive thought include fear of germs, hurting yourself and others, acting socially inappropriate, forbidden sexual thoughts, and obsessing over exactness or symmetry. Common compulsions include obsessively cleaning, checking, repeating, hoarding, counting, and seeking reassurance. Along with OCD one may experience other disorders such as dipression, anxiety, trichotillomania, and body dismorphic disorder. Although OCD it is maintainable and important to seek treatment. This disorder is no joke and people need begin to realize how serious it is in case them or a loved one is experiencing it.

This relates to history because for years this disorder has been misunderstood and some people don’t even know if they have it. This is a huge struggle that many of us suffer from and it is important to help those who do suffer.
