Civil rights movement laws destroyed- Madi Haggard

There are three laws of the civil rights movement,  the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1965 Voting Rights and Fair Housing Act of 1968.  A new conservative group on the Supreme Court may soon treat them as outdated "racial entitlements" that should be "put back in their place".  They warn, for the first time, the court has five conservative judges who were made to dismantle the legal legacy of these laws.  It would also destroy a part in the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.  However, these three laws are as central to King's legacy as his "I Have a Dream" speech. They are in some ways our legal foundation for the community he created in his speeches and books.  These laws touch virtually every American yet few realize these laws came about only because of a brutal struggle.

This relates to the guided age because it was back when the government officials were corrupt. There's a big time difference but either way, the concept is still there.  I think and hope this won’t happen.  This article was published January   21, 2019, and was made to inform readers who want to stay informed with current events and be aware of tragedies occurring.  It gives them the opportunity to learn what's going on around them.

  1. If these laws are dismantled, then what will be the effects of this? Obviously civil right laws are important, but honestly I don’t know exactly what these laws state. Therefore, I don’t know what the outcome will be, but it doesn’t sound good.

  3. I would like to know what the laws meant and stood for. But if it affects Dr.King's legacy it must be huge one.

  4. These laws are laws that alot of people don't know what they stand for or mean. I feel that what comes out of the effect of this won't be something that alot of us will like.
