Avalanches in western US claim the lives of two more skiers - Joziah German

Avalanches in the West claimed two more lives. Monday south of Aspen, Colorado, a male skier out with friends and family, ended up losing his life in the mountains. Another man last Thursday, in New Mexico, passed away due to his injuries as well. Local  County Sheriff's Office said the skier in Colorado was trapped and buried under the snow, but was freed and unsuccessful given CPR. The efforts were doing nothing to save the man, so 26 members of a rescue team began a recovery operation. "Rescuers were hampered by weather and local avalanche conditions," the office said. Colorado Avalanche information center did say they released a warning saying that conditions were dangerous on the back country and would require proper readiness and caution if skied. They said that this time of year there are many risks, and that people always need to track current conditions so events like this don’t happen again. The other man, experienced skier Corey Borg-Massanari, 22, was critically injured by an avalanche in New Mexico, and by the time he’s injuries were under control he was gone. Both families have suffered horrible to these tragedies.

This article released by Phil Gast Monday night, was horrible news for the Colorado family whose son died that day. I didn’t know about any avalanches killing people, but I did know about all the winter storms that are hitting the northern part of the United States. I was just in Chicago and it was snowing to the point where cars couldn’t drive, and I know a lot more states are struggling with this weather. This article reminds me of the deadly 70 car pile up in Iowa last year after a crazy winter mix hit the north. This accident just like the avalanche accidents were cause by people not taking the proper precautions to check and notice the weather, and maybe tell themselves it’s not safe for me to do what I want to do right now.  This article was written for anyone following up on these terrible winter storms this year, and seeing the destruction they are doing not only to families, but to physical towns and materials. I really think the purpose of this article was to show how important it is for people to realize if professional identities are saying to be careful, or to stay off the roads, that it’s not safe, that people should understand this and don’t do it. It’s important to know that conditions like these storms, are killing people and it’s not a joke to play the professionals off and go ski anyways. I really think people need to learn to invest more, if they already have the technology, to check and see if they are risking their lives or not to do something they really don’t have too.
