Rock is Hurled Through Windshield and Hits Deputy in Face | Daniella Castanheira

On January 27th, Kentucky Deputy Phillip Dean was responding to a call about rocks being thrown at vehicles when a rock was thrown at his vehicle. The rock smashed through the windshield and struck him in the face, causing him to lose control and hit several trees before rolling over. Dean is now in the hospital recovering from multiple broken bones and lacerations. The police is currently looking into the person responsible and witnesses say that the suspect drives a dark-colored car.

This article was written by Amanda Jackson not too long after the incident took place. Although this is not a huge, breaking news story, it is still important to focus on problems that affect everyday people. Just because it does not revolve around the current politics does not take away from what an inauspicious event this is. Workplace dangers that police officers like Dean face remind me of those faced by factory workers during the Progressive Era and the subsequent reforms that followed.

  1. This is very sad that there are people who would cause such pain and suffering to an innocent person for fun. I hope that they are able to catch the person who did this and that the victim recovers and is ok.
