Populism: She's Back. -Hadley McGhee

Populism. It's no wonder that the years after the 2016 election have seen a bit of a populist movement, after all, 62% of rural voters voted for Trump in the 2016 election. While populism in the early 20th century scored us the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th amendments, it looks like Trump's neo-populism is actually harming the farmers that voted for him and it may take away some of Americans' privileges. For example, Trump issued a transgender military ban that was supported by the Supreme Court recently. And Trump's trade war actually harms farmers.

So, just like every other Trump product, Trump-era populism is a low quality, more expensive version of the original thing.
