Kyla Thomas (1st Period)- Nigeria church collapse kills 50 worshipers

Summary: In Uyo, Nigeria, a church collapsed on Saturday. There was an unknown reason for the collapse of the church. Hopefully it wasn't intentionally done. "It was really terrible. It was a very terrible thing to watch," said Inameti Effiong Udofia, a student living in Uyo who rushed to the scene right after the church collapsed early Saturday morning. "The whole building went down and a lot of souls were lost."A lot of people inside of the church were badly injured and many died. The good thing is that the people who lived there are very close and supportive and one Nigerian remarked, "any tragedy that affects any part of Nigeria affects all of us." It is good to have that kind of support from the community.

Analysis: It is very unfortunate that a church of all places collapsed and injured innocent people who just went to worship not expecting that they would never return home. My heart goes out to the families and the community that was affected. In relation to history, in this case, recent history, this tragic church- related incident reminds me of the tragedy that happened in a South Carolina church in the summer of 2015. The difference between this and the 2015 incident was that the incident in 2015 was intentional and come out of hate. The bad thing about this recent event was that more people were affected. Nothing good ever comes from death but you never know when it will happen, which is why you should never take life for granted and live the way God wants you to live.
