Rachel Bozalis - KKK Rally in Honor of Trump's Victory

A man in Roxboro, North Carolina, a tiny southern town, witnessed a Klu Klux Klan celebration of Trump's victory earlier this month. The group's population reportedly clamored down the town's mainstreet on a Saturday afternoon, honking horns, waving confederate and KKK flags, and giving nazi salutes. The author, who witnessed the event, tied this to other hateful offenses based on race or religion that have occurred recently, like the attack of a muslim women by three drunk men as they attempted to remove her hijab as well as the increase of bullying in school based on race and religion. While the author does not believe that everyone who voted for Trump is a white supremacist and he recognizes that Trump does not support the KKK, he worries that Trump's willingness to say what others are too afraid to say has and will result in a hateful and chaotic America.

The obvious reemergence of the KKK into everyday society deeply worries me as well as the other hate crimes emerging around the country due to Trump's victory. I agree with the author that the events are not directly correlated, as Trump voiced that he does not support the KKK and he has not asked for these hate crimes to occur, I am fearful that he has inspired these events to happen. This group dates back to 1866 when the group was founded to use terror and violence to keep freedmen from obtaining full rights. Hopefully something can be done to protect minorities before these events get out of hand.
