Elizabeth McCullough- Texas Elector Says He Will Not Vote For Trump

Synopsis: One Texas elector has publicly stated that he will not be voting for Trump in the upcoming Electoral College vote on December 19th. He has confessed that he cannot stand by the president-elect, despite the fact that he too is a Republican. Though the chances of enough electoral college members changing their votes to dethrone Trump is virtually impossible, it sparks a little bit of hope in the hearts of Trump critics.

Analysis: The chances of Trump losing his spot as the president-elect is almost astronomical. The fact is Donald Trump is going to be our next president. But the fact that this man is bold enough to boast of how he is voting unfaithfully to his party is hopeful. Not that Trump will be stopped from becoming president, but that there are people in our government system who are brave enough to stand up to his iron fist. This Texan elector ignores the scrutiny he will undoubtedly receive as backlash, and fights for what he believes in.

Synthesis: It is not particularly common for a member of the electoral college to vote against his or her party, but it does happen. This event can synthesize to the election of 1836, in which 23 electoral voters were unfaithful to their parties.
